Blue Lane Solution to Ease Patching Burden for Microsoft Products

CUPERTINO, CA, August 31, 2004– Blue Lane™ Technologies Inc., provider of the industry’s first inline patch proxy for enterprise servers, today announced that it has signed a license agreement with Microsoft that enables the company to ensure its products provide comprehensive coverage for vulnerabilities in Microsoft products. The Microsoft Communication Protocol Licensing Program (MCPP) will allow the company to quickly support new security patches that Microsoft releases.

“Customers have told us that they need integrated solutions to enable new security scenarios in Windows environments,” said Michael Dickstein, director of business development in the Security Business Unit, Microsoft Corporation. “We are pleased to work with companies like Blue Lane to help customers implement effective security within and across enterprises.”

The Microsoft Communications Protocol Program (MCPP) provides third party access to the communications protocols implemented in Microsoft server operating system products that are used to interoperate or communicate natively with Microsoft Windows operating system products.

“We see a large opportunity to help customers reduce the cost and risk of dealing with patches for security vulnerabilities,” said Fred Kost, vice president of marketing at Blue Lane. “By licensing protocols from Microsoft, we ensure that our solution will offer a rapid response to any new Microsoft vulnerabilities that require a patch, minimizing the operational burden for our customers.”
